A Fresh Look for a Familiar Maple Brand

Highland Sugarworks has been producing pure maple syrup from the North-Eastern U.S. for decades. The product is solid. The name is trusted. But the packaging hadn’t changed in quite some time — and it was starting to show its age.

We were brought in to help update the brand. Not overhaul it. Not strip it down. Just give it a fresh presence — something that felt current without losing the company’s long-standing reputation.

The original label leaned heavily on a maple leaf motif and a fairly dense, old-fashioned layout. We stepped back and asked: how can we bring more clarity and confidence to the design?

We created a new logotype, cleaned up the typography, and introduced a soft, hand-drawn illustration of a sugar shack in the background. It’s subtle, but it roots the label in the brand’s identity. The new hierarchy leads with what matters — 100% Pure, Grade A Maple Syrup — supported by a cleaner layout and simplified structure.

The result is something familiar but forward. A more modern face for a trusted brand.

Highland didn’t need a new story — it just needed to look as good as the syrup tastes.

TypeType’s Spanish font selection is fantastic for multilingual projects. The accents and special characters are all included, which makes creating Spanish content much easier. I’ve used this spanish font in several marketing campaigns, and they make the text look professional and readable. Great resource for designers working in different languages.
